WHAT IS A FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST?
Every individual or legal entity shall have the right to access official administrative documents of the City and its agencies. Such right of access shall be exercised per explicit request and includes a right of consultation, a right to clarification and further information as well as the right to obtain a copy. The Los Santos Government believes in transparency and is open for public scrutiny. We strongly encourage our citizens to examine the activities of the government through examining publicly available information and requesting all information not readily available. All requests will be handled by the Office of the City Operations Officer, and all requests will be fulfilled. There is no set time for the fulfilment of any given request.

LIMITATIONS AND CONDITIONS OF ADMISSIBILITY
- A request to access such information shall clearly state the subject matter, and if possible the specifically requested relevant administrative documents. A request shall be made to the competent authority.
- Administrative documents containing information of personal nature shall be redacted to protect the personal information of any third party and only be made available if the requesting party gives evidence of a legitimate interest, except when such access infringes upon any law imposing a duty of confidentiality.
- The right to access official administrative documents shall not apply to any information prepared by or for the Office of the mayor for use in actions or proceedings to which the City or any agency is a party, or for use in any investigation authorised by this charter.
- The right to access official administrative documents shall not apply when disclosure of such information can cause damage to public order and safety, the investigation and prosecution of crimes, an economic or financial interest of the City or the confidential nature of company data shared with the City.
