CURATOR OF CULTURE
DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS JOB POSTING

- AS PREPARED FOR PUBLICATION -
Los Santos, SA ~ Sunday, November 22nd, 2020
Status of Recruitment: Open — Number of Positions: 4 — Duration of Position: Continuous — Pay Group Junior Curator of Culture: 40,000.00$

In a context of cultural heritage the appreciation of culture is not the same as determining its financial value. Instead the valuation of culture is achieved by researching, naming and documenting various heritage values in a rational and structured manner through dialogue with both internal and external concerned parties. For example, to define and protect the significance of an art collection of a local artist. As of now there is no clear-cut predetermined framework drawing the outlines for how cultural appreciation must take place. As a member of the department of cultural affairs you shall help give shape to such framework and be responsible for the inventory of our culture, officially known as the Cultural Registry of Los Santos.

Your job description includes but is not limited to:

CULTURAL RECORDINGS
As a curator you shall assist with and provide new insights in the development of the department's collection policy to ensure that collections are properly preserved and new acquisitions are recorded and cataloged accordingly. It shall be your responsibility to properly safeguard the cultural assets and historical collection belonging to the City of Los Santos as well as guaranteeing the access of those assets for research and study.
CULTURAL INITIATIVES
Support of local event organizers and assistance with city-led cultural initiatives by raising funds and grants through sponsorship; researching suitable venues; promoting events and organizing the production of tickets, posters and brochures; planning exhibition hall layouts and activities programs such as workshops, seminars and demonstrations; selling stand/exhibition spaces to potential exhibitors and supervising the dismantling and removal of such stands; etc.
CULTURAL RECOGNITION
The adoption of an effective framework for positive recognition to ensure that those who succeed at making significant contributions to the City's cultural activities and heritage can become effectively recognized by the wider community for it.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
To create self-sufficient and self-sustaining cultural communities, in which members consider their field to be a viable profession that offers much-needed financial security.
