IV. MOTIVATIONAL LETTER
  • 4.1 Please explain why you have decided to apply for this vacancy.
For as long as I can remember, I have been intrigued and enamored with the things that makes mankind unique: language, cuisine, beliefs, music, customs and traditions. Through various forms of media, I learned early on in life that the human race is not a monolith. Rather, it is home to a myriad of cultures, each with its own unique traits.

My desire to explore the different cultures of the world led me to San Fiero State University, where I pursed a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. My coursework centered around the four main branches of anthropology: biological, cultural, linguistic, and archaeology. Whether it was learning about the biological characteristics of the Homo neanderthalensis, or studying the architectural style of excavated ancient Mesopotamian ruins, my curriculum has molded me into a multi-faceted and knowledgeable scholar of culture.

Once I relocated to Los Santos after my schooling, I immediately recognized the city as a multicultural melting pot. From the rural communities of Blaine County and the Tongvan Hills, to the urban centers in Little Seoul and Rancho, our city is home to a wide array of people. I come from the school of thought that exposure to different cultures, when promoted in a responsible and respectful fashion, can bring unity to neighboring communities. In this position as a Curator of Culture, I would promote multiculturalism as something to be celebrated, and I would use my platform to spread the message that our difference should not divide us, but unite us.

I consider myself to be a very sociable and approachable person. I am very easy to get along with, and am always looking to help my peers in any way I can. I believe that this trait would serve me well not only with my colleagues in the department, but also citizens of Los Santos that I may come across in my work. In addition, I would describe myself as an individual who is able to adapt to situations very quickly. I am a fast learner and know how to think on the fly and adjust plans if need be.

I was made aware of this post through my good friend Tabitha Grace, who has previously worked in the Department of Cultural Affairs. Through her, I was able to learn a little more about the work that the department does in the community. My assessment is that this position requires an individual with an eye for detail, a creative mind, and a passion for enriching the lives of the community. I believe I can deliver on all of this.

Los Santos is a city of great potential. A progressive society relies on its citizens to learn from one another, but how can we learn from one another if we may never have the chance to meet and exchange ideas? I decided to apply for this position to serve as a bridge between communities in order to tap into our city’s potential. By preserving and learning from our past, we can be equipped to tackle issues that arise in the present in order to forge a better future.

Thank you for considering my application. I hope to speak with you soon.

V. CRIMINAL HISTORY
  • 5.1 Do you have a criminal record?
    [] YES [x] NO
5.2 If yes to the previous question, please elaborate (or N/A):
    N/A
