As a Legislative Aide for the Southern District, you will play a vital role in supporting councilman F. Buntz in his duties and contribute to effective governance and representation at the municipal level.

RESEARCH & ANALYTICS
As a legislative aide, you will be hands-on in conducting research on various issues, legislation and policy matters relevant to the priorities set by the councilmember and subsequently translate your findings into comprehensive reports and recommendations in order to best inform the councilmember's decision-making process.
LEGISLATIVE SUPPORT
Legislative Aides — as the job title suggests — assist the councilmember in the process of creating new legislation, ordinances, amendments and resolutions. You may be asked to draft an ordinance, conduct impact-assessment and ensure adherence to legal and procedural requirements.
MEETING-PREP & ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Legislative Aides may be asked to help prepare the councilmember's agenda. This may involve keeping their schedule, prepare for council meetings or committee hearings and taking notes and coordinating logistics. An aide will, from time to time, act as a receptionist at the councilmember's private office and perform various administrative tasks to ensure the office runs smoothly.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH & ENGAGEMENT
Legislative Aides collaborate with other municipal departments and agencies to address issues and coordinate events and other initiatives. As such, they act as a liaison with city staff, local groups and organizations along with other elected officials to further the councilmember's objectives.

The City Council is the governing body responsible for enacting policies on behalf of the Municipality of the city of Los Santos. It deals with, among other things; legislative functions, budgetary oversight, policy making, oversight of city agencies and the representation of constituents. The council is composed of five districts, namely; The Northern, Central, Western, Southern and County district. Each district has an elected representative / council(wo)man.

1. Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Public Administration/Policy, Law, Communications, Social Sciences, Public Affairs/Community Development, or another degree otherwise beneficial to a legislative aide's field of work. An equivalent level gained through work experience will definitely be considered.
2. No previous work experience is required. However, the applicant will be expected to do extensive research and be flexible enough to learn on the job.

1. A high level of literacy is required together with the ability to frame correspondence in a user-friendly but legally correct style and to prepare file notes for presentation to department and city leadership.
2. Excellent organizational and time management skills together with the ability to prioritize and manage significant workload under pressure without constant supervision. The ability to maintain a calm and professional approach when faced with challenging issues and sometimes high profile officials is essential.
3. Strong political and social awareness of local issues, as well as ties with the local scene and/or knowledge of the history of the local region, is advantageous.
