My prior employer was the Boulder County Probation Department, wherein I was employed as a Probation Officer since May 14, 2020. The experience related to the job which I would consider relevant is supervising juvenile defendants sentenced to probation and assessing their needs and behaviors to try and establish pro-social behaviors that previously caused harm to the community and victims. My career was mobile as I was tasked with meeting the juvenile defendants face-to-face to ensure that they were complying with the terms and conditions of their parole and to prevent any violations, while occasionally having telephone contact and video conferencing. A significant part of my role involved both administrative and technical responsibilities, including managing case files and collaborating with county, state, and social service agencies. I coordinated, enrolled, and monitored defendants in electronic monitoring and county work crew programs, as well as arranged drug and alcohol testing when necessary. Additionally, I ensured the timely submission of electronic files to the municipal court records. - 3.3 Please explain why you have decided to apply for this vacancy?
I am excited to apply for the Jr. Child Protective Services agent position because I am eager to make a broader impact in the lives of children and families in need. During my time as a juvenile probation officer, I realized that I wanted to focus more on supporting children who were at risk rather than only working with those who had been convicted of crimes. While I valued the role I played in helping juvenile offenders, I felt limited in my ability to provide positive interventions for children who needed guidance and support before reaching the justice system.
Additionally, after relocating from Boulder, Colorado to San Andreas, I am excited about the opportunity to apply my skills in a new environment. I am particularly drawn to this role because it aligns with my passion for advocacy and child welfare, and I believe my background in working with vulnerable youth will enable me to effectively support families and protect children in this community.
