QUESTION
- 1.1 Subject: Previous convictions
- 1.2 Question: One of the shareholders of the business that will be bidding for contracts has been jailed twice. Once for GTA and once for burglary, will these convictions hinder their bid? We would hate to think that reformed criminals are being punished when they aren’t actively involved in crime and are looking to earn an honest living through legal means.
Kind Regards
Dominick Attardo
Dear Mr.Attardo,
Criminal conviction of shareholders are indeed factored into the decision making process and during the necessary background checks, but do not necessarily mean total elimination from the bidding process. A multitude of circumstances are considered when decisions are rendered, such as how recent the conviction is and the severity of the crime.
Cordially,
