The Cultural Grants offered by the City of Los Santos are designed to provide financial support to establishments, organizations, companies, and event organizers that actively contribute to the cultural heritage of the city. These grants help recipients expand their brand outreach, cover basic event services, or rent locations. The Department of Cultural Affairs, along with the City Government’s higher administration, reviews all applications, ensuring they meet specific criteria before moving forward with internal discussions.
1. The recipient must have attained the age of 18.
2. The recipient must have a legal address in the State of San Andreas.
3. (( The event must receive full approval from the events team. ))
- The recipient must be looking to actively provide a significant contribution to the cultural history of Los Santos through their activities. These events should aim to foster community involvement and enhance the appreciation of Los Santos rich history, thereby contributing to the city’s cultural vibrancy.
- The recipient must be seeking to cover basic event costs, including but not limited to security, venue fees, payments to participating businesses, and the production of giveaways (such as plushies, cards, clothing, etc.).
- The recipient's event or business must fall under the following six categories: Cultural Heritage and Traditions, Performing Arts, Sports and Recreation, Culinary Arts, Visual Arts, and Film and Media.
- The recipient must be a resident in good standing within the City of Los Santos. While criminal records will not be deemed disqualifying factors, they will be considered in the evaluation process. Felony convictions will carry significant weight in this assessment. However, individuals who demonstrate a commitment to reform and actively support the city's culturally rich history may still be eligible for recognition. Misdemeanors will be less scrutinized and will not significantly impact the eligibility of prospective recipients. The quality of the event, recent contributions of the organizer, and supporting documentation will all be taken into account as favorable considerations in this criteria.
- The recipient must not have received a Cultural Grant within the two weeks preceding their eligibility for a subsequent grant.
- The recipient is required to provide relevant and transparent information regarding to their business and events, including but not limited to summaries, attendance records, and press coverage, upon request by City Officials.
The Cultural Grants shall be issued solely by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, City Operations Officer and Department of Cultural Affairs.
- (( The City Government currently reviews each event application and will raise any concerns with the events team if discrepancies or errors are found. Additionally, all submitted funding requests must be realistic, and evidence supporting the requested amounts is required. ))
- (( The Cultural Grants handled in the Events Discord shall not exceed $750,000. If the amount requested exceeds this limit, it will be discussed with the events team to determine whether the event merits additional funding. ))
- Cultural Grants for businesses shall not exceed $2,000,000.
- Please note that there will be a follow up process after the cultural grant is issued. Recipients may be required to provide updates on the event's progress and outcomes to ensure that the funding is being utilized properly. (( Applies both IC and OOC. ))
- The City Treasurer shall be responsible for disbursing the funds to the recipient.
- (( The City Government shall engage in at least three days of discussions prior to issuing a Cultural Grant through the events Discord. However, this may vary depending on how close the event is to occurring. ))
- (( If Legal Faction Management and/or the events team determine that the event does not require the requested amount of funding, the city government will not provide financial assistance. ))
- (( If the funding for an event is misused, such as not being utilized for the intended purpose of the event, we may require the recipient to return any disbursed funds. Additionally, future funding requests may be denied for any recipient found to be in violation of this. ))
STEP I. EVENT REVIEW ─ Upon the request of a Cultural Grant their goals for the event will be reviewed and discussed by the entities previously mentioned in the Grant Authority.
STEP II. RESOLUTION ─ Once it is determined that the event requires financial assistance for proper execution, the organizer will be contacted, and the funds will be appropriately forwarded. Prior to this, their banking information will be requested.
Following the recent reorganization of the events team and extensive discussions regarding the volume of paperwork in the server, we have decided to adopt a new approach. We are now offering cultural grants through the events team Discord for various types of events aimed at expanding their presence.
Similar to the Cultural Recognition Program, the Cultural Grants will not require you to submit requests through our forums, although this option will still be available. The Department of Cultural Affairs and Faction Leadership will actively review all financial requests submitted for each event. If these requests meet the outlined criteria, we will facilitate a direct transfer to either the service provider for the event or the event organizer.
Additionally, businesses may qualify for cultural grants if their focus is on events, sports, and similar activities. Please note that these business-specific grants are separate from the events team Discord and will operate under a contractual agreement. The application process will be conducted through IC means, allowing for a more immersive experience. We will actively seek businesses that promote cultural and heritage-based activities, as well as those that celebrate local history.
Interested parties may apply for these grants or directly contact Hank Preston or Corinna Hamilton. The application process requires minimal paperwork, limited to basic information about the business and the proposed activities.
In summary, there are now two types of Cultural Grants, those fully managed through the events team Discord, reviewed by leadership and the Department of Cultural Affairs, and those available for businesses, which will be handled through IC means with minimal paperwork.
***** DISCLAIMER - funds are to be used exclusively for event-related expenses. Any misuse of these funds will result in formal notification to admins.
