The City Attorney works in close partnership with the Mayor and the City Operations Officer and other key leaders for the benefit of the City of Los Santos and to ensure the City and its municipal ordinances, policies and procedures comply with all federal and state law and reflect best practices in municipal governance and law.
This position plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the City's legal services and provides legal advice to Council, the City Operations Officer, and all City Departments, and various boards and commissions in an effort to reduce risk to the City. The City Attorney is responsible for performing the most complex and important legal work including reviewing and making recommendations on contracts and real estate documents, drafting, and negotiating development agreements, ordinances, and resolutions, and providing other general legal services as needed.
City Attorney falls under the authority of the Office of the City Operations Officer. The Office of the City Operations Officer coordinates the activities of all city departments, oversees the development of new policies and programs and effectively serves as the main point of contact for all government-related inquiries.
The City Attorney reports directly to the Mayor and the (Deputy) City Operations Officer.
1. Candidates must be licensed to practice law in the State of San Andreas upon hire.
2. The applicant must have gained at least 5 years of experience in the active practice of law.
3. The applicant must possess a clean and current driving license.
4. The applicant may not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor.
1. A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
2. The applicant will have gained at least 5 years of experience in the active practice of local government law.
3. The applicant will be experienced in the public sector and knowledgeable of all aspects of municipal operations.
1. You must have a basic understanding of all aspects of city governance and an up-to-date knowledge of current laws.
2. You must display strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to perform compelling presentations.
3. You must be a versatile and highly collaborative leader with a communicative, team-oriented management style.
4. You must be pro-active in assessing the city's legal risks and identifying strategies to reduce such risk.
5. You display excellent leadership as well as interpersonal and management skills. You have strong negotiation and persuasion abilities.
6. You exhibit superior critical thinking and analytical skills. Your organizational abilities enable you to be highly detail-oriented.
STEP I. JOB CANDIDACY ─ The first stage of the selection process consists of a formal notice of intent by the job candidate to compete for the position. Such notice of intent shall be in writing and submitted to the Office of City Operations Officer, along with a full resume, a cover letter, and any referrals that can be considered relevant to the selection process.
STEP II. BACKGROUND CHECK ─ Upon submitting your candidacy, recruitment officials will verify whether the information contained within is truthful. STEP III. JOB INTERVIEW ─ The third stage involves a one-to-one interview. The focus of the interview shall primarily be directed at the knowledge of the candidate, and will include both theoretical questions as well as a practical assignment.
STEP IV. EXAMINATION ─ The recruitment process is concluded with one last interview conducted by two or more of the City's leadership. Its goal is to determine the candidate's soft skills, work attitude, and leadership qualities that he or she will demonstrate in the performance of their duties as a city official.
